The journey through life is personal. How do you feel when you think about where you are and where you are going?
“We are at our very best, and we are happiest, when we are fully engaged in work we enjoy on the journey toward the goal we’ve established for ourselves. It gives meaning to our time off and comfort to our sleep. It makes everything else in life so wonderful…”
– Earl Nightingale

5 Steps to Start Your Personal Journey
- Realize Who You Are
- Find Your Strength
- Overcome the Resistance
- Interpret Feedback
- Focus Your Value
Realize Who You Are
The purpose of the first episode of Sideweight Radio is to lead you to take the first step of any personal journey. Commit yourself to a curious and creative lifestyle.
In order to become who you truly want to be, you must give yourself permission to explore who you are. This self-exploration requires you to have Negative Capability.
“Negative Capability …is when man is capable of being in uncertainties, Mysteries, doubts, without any irritable reaching after fact & reason”
– John Keats
Your personal journey also requires you to commit time and energy. Concentrating that time and energy on studying curiosities, performing from strengths, and following the stars will lead to the ultimate success:
doing what you want to do.
Find Your Strengths
The second episode of Sideweight Radio shares different ways you can find your strength. Using these tools, we narrow down personal strengths to find your dominant talent.
Once we have isolated the dominant talent, we examine how much your day to day gives you the opportunity to use your dominant talent. Pay attention to the feedback.
Overcome the Resistance
Once you start performing from your strengths, you will seem weird. The initial excitement may suddenly feel uncomfortable. Here, many fall victim to self sabotage, which alter or end one’s personal journey prematurely.
The second episode of Sideweight Radio teaches how to push forward on the personal journey.
A combination of faith, gratitude, and forgiveness give us the strength to overcome the resistance. Using a couple anchors and reframes, we alter our perceptions to empower the realization of self.
Interpret Feedback
Now that we strengthened our commitment to explore our personal truth, we have to listen to how we can do the greatest good.
In the fourth week of the personal journey, we learn the three types of feedback and how we should respond to each type. We also identify three ways to increase the value of the feedback.
Revise your work accordingly to align your intent and the audience reaction.
Focus Your Value
In the fifth week of the personal journey, we take the feedback and use it to demonstrate our value on a first impression.
Tools like a tagline, an elevator pitch, a portfolio, a focus sheet, and your imagination help us build our platform.
A robust platform will provide more opportunities to do what we do best.
Next Steps
